Brian Greene's The Fabric of the Cosmos is the best introduction I've read to some very basic issues in physics. It is difficult by being noncondescending and yet popular. The long discussion of variations on the two-slit experiment is wonderful and exciting. That part builds up to an experimental set-up that yields outcomes that can (probably) show that future configurations of light might determine the way we interpretits initial conditions. If this sounds normal, read the book. Other features that I liked are sections on the Cassimir Effect, time travel, and teleportation (sort of). Glad to see it on the list.
